She met her first husband, Michael Wallace, when she was 17 and they had two daughters togeth...

The DAVID SHARP Everest Tragedy - Was He IGNORED & Left For Dead... Or UNPREPARED & Reckless??

Image
In almost any situation in the real world where some one is in trouble and needs help, the right thing to do is help them. This is an automatic instinct for most people. If a player gets injured in a baseball game, the trainer comes running out and every one watching is concerned for the player’s well-being. However, there is one place in the world that is so inhospitable, so brutal in its environment, that just making sure that you yourself survive oftentimes takes priority over helping others. This place, of course, is Mt. Everest and there has been many incidents of climbers in serious trouble who needed help, but no one was able to save them. David Sharp One of these climbers was named David Sharp and what happened to him sparked outrage throughout the climbing community. Did over 40 climbers walk right by him as he sat dying, noticing him but opting not to help him so they could continue their quest towards the summit? Or, is there are another explanation as to why nobody wa...

APOLLO 8: The INCREDIBLY AMBITIOUS First Flight To The Moon.. "I've Got The Moon..."

Image
In 1961, John F. Kennedy proclaimed that we would go to the moon before the end of the decade. His proclamation was inspiring and powerful, but also gave NASA a deadline that would be extremely difficult to meet. America had only recently put the first men in space during Project Mercury. And the difference between entering space and successfully landing on the moon are massive. Space begins at about 73 miles above sea level and the world’s altitude record was a mere 850 miles, set by Gemini 11. The moon is 240,000 miles away from the Earth. In other words, at the time of JFK’s speech, we had made it about .003% of the way to the moon, which by the way, is a moving target that takes near perfect precision to successfully reach. A lunar landing was a task of such enormous complexity that it seemed nearly everything would have to go perfectly in order to accomplish the feat in such a short amount of time. Of course, everything did not go perfectly. There were multiple delays be...

Everest's CRAZIEST Climber - He Took Deadly SW FACE Route Missing 9 Fingers!?!? (栗城 史多)

Image
One of the biggest challenges for any climber who takes on a mountain like Everest is to maintain an extremely large amount of confidence and determination needed to make it to the top, while also not being overconfident or too determined, which can get you killed. There have been far too many instances of climbers who would not or could not quit even after the mountain had made it abundantly clear that continuing would result in almost certain death. However, there has possibly never been a climber more determined – or some might say more reckless – than Japanese climber, Nobukazu Kuriki, who’s decisions went from overly ambitious to downright suicidal over a period of time in which he attempted to climb Mt. Everest eight times. Kuriki was born on June 9th, 1982 in Hokkaido, Japan. After graduating High School, he had no particular dreams or goals. He spent a year basically doing nothing, what is known as a NEET life – not in education, employment or training, until he decided to a...

The Apollo I Disaster: What Went Wrong

Image
On July 21st, 1961, the second U.S. manned suborbital spaceflight, Mercury-Redstone 4, also known as Liberty Bell 7, launched with Gus Grissom at the controls. The mission was to continue to research and study man’s capabilities in space, as well as test new features in the spacecraft, one of which was an explosively actuated side hatch. This hatch was designed to utilize an explosive charge that would fracture the 70 bolts that attached the hatch, and quickly separate it from the spacecraft. Both the astronaut inside and the support team outside had the ability to trigger this function, which was meant as a safety device in case the astronaut needed to quickly exit the spacecraft.  Gus Grissom Shortly before the launch, a technician noticed that 1 of the 70 bolts was misaligned, but it was determined that the other 69 would suffice and nothing was done about it. The spaceflight went as planned and reached an altitude of 102.8 nautical miles, with a period of weightlessness...
